Since we last blogged in brisbane we've moved up the queensland coast stopping in noosa and now hervey bay.
our last night in brissy was spent on the pavement outside the hostel due to some prat setting fire to the roof with his fag. by the time me and katie had worked out the fire alarm was going off at 3.30am and made our way downstairs there were already 5 fire engines, 6 cop cars, ambulances, bouncers and other people attending the scene. being a friday night it didnt take long for some of the 200 odd people from the hostel to start fighting with each other. utter chaos! eventually we got back to the room just after 5am but with us having a get up at 5.45 for our bus out of town there wasnt much point us sleeping.
So our next stop up the coast was a small town called noosa. an amazing place with one the best beaches in australia. we spent the next 3-4 days catching the free shuttle into town from our hostel and lying on the beach all day except one day when we decided to go to australia zoo (the steve irwin one) where katie fell in love with the koalas.
From noosa we headed to hervey bay last wednesday (our current location) in order to explore fraser island. The day before fraser we had a free day and the hostel asked us if we wanted to go sea kayaking for free. A new local business had just started up and wanted volunteers to try out their new equipment/do a trial run so we jumped at the chance. we didnt see any dolphins or whales but its was a great 3hours.
Our 3day 2night 4wd adventure on fraser island turned into quite a boozy trip (as the pictures probably show). For the 11 of us in our truck/group we brought along 56 litres of local goon, 96 cans of beer and a bottle of vodka. and by the end of it it had mostly been consumed, with afew casulties along the way :). Still we had an amazing time with some amazing people and managed to see all the sights we wanted to, even though the weather was miserable and we had a flat battery for half of the 2nd day due to us turning up late at the campsite the 1st night and using the lights on the truck to help us up put up the tents. So many funny stories from fraser we'll have to save them for when we get back.
We reach airlie beach (access point to the whitsunday island) on friday stopping at a local cattle ranch for the night on thursday so until then we're just relaxing by the pool and enjoying the beach. our sailing starts on sunday and we've been told good things about the boat so both looking forward to that. Its even got a hot tub on board, sweet!!!!!!
hope everyones well, enjoy the pictures.
