After a long day at Macchu Picchu we were glad to be on the warm comfortable train back to Ollyantambo. We arrived in around 9:30pm and were hopeful about a 11pm arrival back in Cuzco, however, this was not to be. Our taxi driver had to wait for two other people and so it was another hour before we set off without the missing two. The drive back was awful with bad rain and with the driver insisting on keeping his windows wide open, we both froze in the back. Ash assured me it was better to freeze than the driver fall asleep at the wheel! We finally arrived aroud 12:15am and was grateful for a nice cosy bed back at Yamanya hostel.
We had a bit of a lie in on the Monday morning however we did have to register with our Spanish School before lunch so we set off up the hill with Inca Kola in hand hoping it would keep us awake. Before we knew it we were both in a classroom with our teacher speaking Spanish! We spent the next few days taking lessons which we both thoroughly enjoyed. I even felt like I could speak a bit of Spanish in the end which was great. Our evenings were spent in the hostel chilling with the other travellers we had met and Ash even helped out in the kitchen preparing dinner. On our last night in Cusco we decided we had to try out the nightlife which many had told us was worth seeing. We ended up leaving the hostel around 11pm after id had a two hour sleep and hit a local bar where live music was playing. Antonio and Melody joined us and we had an enjoyable evening drinking and chatting the night away. Before we knew it it was 2:30am and Melody and I decided it was bedtime for us. Ash went on to a club with Antonio and another guy from the hostel and got home around 4:30am. Party time!!
We were both sad to be leaving Cusco as we had met some lovely people and really enjoyed our Spanish lessons even though it was the coldest place ever (remember we havent had a winter!). We did a joint cooking event on our last night before catching the night bus to Copacabana (Bolivia) and Antonio showed us some more of his cooking skills whilst we made fajitas. A special place; I hope we return to one day.
