Hi again! Think its been a while since the last blog..well it feels like it anyway. We arrived in Queenstown to our first hostel (which wasn't our first choice), The Flaming Kiwi. There were loads of people living here, so when we tried to settle in it wasn't as easy as before in other hostels because everyone sort of knew each other, and it didnt really feel like our room because the other lads in there were all settled in and had places around the room for all the stuff they had! So almost straight away we went to another hostel called The Bungy Backpackers, and got booked in there for the next day and the rest of our time in Queenstown.
Queenstown is a really great place to be. There's a gondola up to a great view and luge track, and every night is a friday night in the bars and clubs! Unfortunately for us, the weather you would want when in such a place wasn't what we got :( There wasn't enough snow out for skiing, and it was quite wet too..but, we made the most of it, usually in the one and only must go to takeaway..FERGBURGER! The best burgers you can get ;) It was so popular they even sold merchandise like underwear and hooded jumpers!
On the first day (just before our first Fergburger session), we found out what activities there were for us to do. Adrenaline junkies Al and Alex, booked the biggest bungy jump in New Zealand, 'The Nevis'. This is 3rd highest in the world also, with an eight second freefall from 134m! This madness took place on the second day whilest Ben and Ryan took in the sights from the top of the gondola and luged away down the mountain...not that they were scared to do the bungy at all haha
Lets give them some credit though..as they did pluck up the courage to book the sky dive! On the day of the skydive you have to decide before you do it if you want the dvd package, which costs around the same prive as the jump..and we decided that we really couldn't afford that. This was one of the best experiences anyone can do, scared or not scared (Ben or Al lol), and i think we would all love to have the dvd footage of it now, because the rush of the whole thing along with excitement and fear, sort of makes everything a bit of a blur! So if anyone's thinking of doing a jump, get the dvd or you may regret it!
Theres a really chilled out atmosphere in Queenstown, and we would have loved to stay longer if the weather was on our side. All that was left to do was go out every night and party with a few teapots full of cocktails in the world bar, and decide each mornig when we woke up the next day if we should go out again that night lol With free soup at the hostel every night aswell, we didnt bother making any of our fancy meals, and so chilled out to the max, and started to get excited about meeting up with all the lads in Australia, which wasn't far away at all!
Keep your eyes peeled for the next one! xox
