well we've finally left Thailand and arrived in Malaysia!! we are currently in Penang, got here yesterday and we're leaving again tomorrow!! yesterday we thought we'd check out the shops so headed down to the huge shopping mall which is about 7 floors high, but we were very good and managed to hold ourselves back from buying anything (cant afford to send another package home just yet!!) we went for dinner at a food market along the seafront, and decided to go there the traditional way - by tri-shaw!! a tri-shaw is like a bike with a sofa attached to the front, although on the way back it did start raining and so the driver attached a canopy and it was like being a huge baby in a big pram!!! then we headed out for the night and went to an english bar where we met a crazy canadian girl who tagged along for the rest of the night!! afterwards we went onto a bar/club where they had a malay band singing english songs, which was good fun!! wat made it even better was the fact that in a smaller club round the back they had a ladies night going on - which meant free drinks all round!! we dragged ourselves home about 3am, and then had to get up again at 8am this morning to go on a bus tour around the sights of Penang. we went to a snake temple where they had a snake farm and we watched a show with pythons and cobras!! then it started raining yet again and we had to trek around Kek Lok Si Temple, which was even more fun when your soaking wet!!! then afterwards we went to the Botanical Gardens which had monkeys running around and living in the trees. they weren't shy at all and we managed to get some good photos!! so now we're back at the hotel after filling our bellies with lunch, and are going to get a few hours sleep before going out again tonight!!
