I left J Bay and my fabulous friends on sunday, april 29th. I flew from Port Elizabth to Jo'burg and then went out to Klipkop. I am at Klipkop right now. I was suppose to fly out to Nepal this morning but all of my flights were cancelled. When I found this out I was really kicking myself because it was pretty hard to tear myself away from my friends and the ocean....usually im pretty pumped to move on, very independant, but I guess sometimes the people you meet and the things you do and see blow you away. My flights were moved to thursday. But I took the fact that they were cancelled as a sign that I should stay in africa for another month! Tomorrow I'm flying back to the coast and meeting up with Maud, Tom and Duncan again. Then Maud and I will eventually make our way up to Mozambique together.....surfing the whole time of course :P
Being back at Klipkop is nice. I went into town yesterday and picked up a new volunteer and then took the fresh arrivals out on the reserve this morning for the big tour....it's kind of nice to see my old stomping grounds. They got 3 or 4 new giraffs while I was gone, so it was pretty cool to see a group of them. It much colder here though compared to when I was last here. It's at a high elevation so you really feel the 'winter'. It can go down to the freezing mark at night and the mornings are chilly too, though with hot afternoons.......I'm looking forward to the warm coast, sand and surf. The area I'm going to, Coffee Bay, has warm water and then I'll be constantly heading into even warmer weather and waters as we travel north up along the coast. I'll be able to surf in board shorts and a rash vest now....woop!
Here's the link to my J Bay photos...the photo album on my bloig hasnt been allowing me to upload.
