Cape Town is great! I'm loving it. After a 2 night stay at the hostel which I got stuck at because I got here early and everything else was full I arrived at Ashanti Backpackers and its wonderful! It's crazy that some of these hostels are just hostels because they're sooo beautiful. There a pool, hammocks, gardens, etc etc
And I'm so in love with the markets here! It's like I've died and gone to heaven. Today I bought a bongo drum! I could spent the whole day there, but I try not to because then I'd leave with too much stuff. I already have to spend a few hours later today minimizing my load.....I'm going to have to think about what to leave behind. Oh well. The life of a backpacker. Everything is go swimmingly though, no complaints.
Yesterday another solo backpacker and I toured around the city. We spent a few hours at one of the beaches, checked out some shops and went up Table Mountain (a World heritage site apparently) for sunset....worth it! The night before I also went to Long Street (the most popular street) to check out the bars with some other backpackers from Ashanti. Good times. Tomorrow I'm spending half of the day sandboarding and half of the day surfing
Then for the rest of the week I'm going to hopefully go to Robben Island, which for those of you that don't know is where the (now closed) prison where political prisoners were once kept and became famous for its inmates during the apartied, including Nelson Mandela. The tours are given my ex-political prisoners. I also want to check out the V and A water front...supposed to be very nice. Myabe hit up another beach....who knows!
On friday the plan so far is to fly back to Johannesburg and spend the night at Klipkop and then fly back out of Jo'burg in the morning to Kenya where I will be volunteering in an orphanage for 2 weeks before leaving for Kathmandu, Nepal!
