I feel silly doing more than one entry before I even leave, but I'm just so pumped that I have to do something. It's 26 days until take off now. I've gotten into the volunteer programs I wanted to. Today my program coordinator sent me a group email (to me and the ppl I'll be volunteering with) with information about my fellow volunteers...like their names/ages/where they're from etc There's going to be a few there when I get there (Some of them started the month before, some earlier than that). There's a few americans, one of them is getting there at the same time as I am. The others are from around europe. I had to send my flight info today so they can find me at the airport...it was a big reminder that I leave in LESS THAN A MONTH! Wow. Wow.
All that I have left to do to prepare is buy my sleeping bag (at Mec), some travel shoes and the little necessities such as antibacterial soap etc And get my malaria pills. The wildlife reserve isn't in a malarious area, but I will be traveling to such areas.
After fundraising full time since getting back to NB after christmas, I've come to the conclusion that I may have to change some dates and narrow my trip by about 2 wks-1 month. We'll see. I'm not making any decisions yet.
While I am still short funds-wise, fundraising has been going reasonably well. My old workplace, Norampac was generous with their sponsorship of myself. Other sponsors thus far include Armstring Funeral Home (moncton area) and Global Pet Foods in moncton (go here instead of Pets Unlimted -- they're wonderful!).
Well, I'll stop rambling. Until next time.
