So where did we leave off... Choosing dinner for the evening! Our hostel served very nice local beers and it was even happy hour (#winning) but unfortunately they only served a sort of taco's so after 2 pints each we decided to try some more local food at the Islandic Fish and Chips Bistro in town. The fish wasn't spectacular, I even think our 'kibbeling' at home tastes better.
Anyway, on our way back we had one more drink at The Laundramat Cafe. The funny bit is you can wash your laundry downstairs while you're having a drink upstairs around the bar. Not that we had any dirty laundry yet, it's still our first day but the eyecatcher was the eccentric bar in the middle which consisted of bookshelves holding up the bar.
As you know, Joris is quite the bookfan so we couldn't just walk by this place.
We called it a night after this while it was it was still light outside at 11:30 pm. Apparently it never becomes completely dark at night during the summer, so quite a strange phenomenom for me to experience for the first time.
The next morning we had some breakfast at Reykjavik Roasters, a really cute place with very tasty croissants, cheese and jam. The fresh roasted coffee and even the green tea tasted perfectly! Definately recommended to anyone wanting breakfast in Reykjavik!
Unfortunately I made a miscalculation with what time the bus would pick us up at our hostel to go to the Blue Lagoon so we had to leave this place a bit earlier than planned.
We ended our stay in Reykjavik with an extremely relaxed and chill session by dipping in the hot waters of the Blue Lagoon and cooling down in the cool air. We "topped it off" by having lunch at the LAVA restaurant (which served deliscious local dishes, unfortunately the bottle of wine was more expensive than both dishes combined) and a relaxing massage in the water!!
Overall, a very pleasant and nice stay over of 24 hours in Reykjavik!
Our plane had some delay though but we were entertained by an American woman who said repeateldly: 'sit', 'no', 'Lily', 'Ewan', '3-2-1'.
No she wasn't talking to her dog, she just had zero control of her own kids :p
