We arrived home in Manjimup today after 11 months away. Sad but happy. Sad that it has all come to an end (for a while anyway) and happy to be back in Manjimup with all the comforts of home. We are already missing the van lifestyle and looking at dates for the next trip.
We had a very smooth trip across the nullabor. While camped at Port Lincoln (with the airconditioner on and 44 degress outside), we checked out the long range forecast for the Nullabor and Norseman so we weren't travelling home in hot weather. We left Pt Lincoln and travelled up the west coast of the Eyre Peninsula and called into Elliston for morning tea. Tony was able to get some fantastic mural photos (see the album) before we headed onto Perlubie Beach for lunch and then onto Ceduna. We camped at Cohen rest area where 10 months previously we had camped with Bert and Fran. The next day saw us cross back into WA and another pleasant night in a free camp just west of Caiguna. Our final stop before getting back into Esperance was at Salmon Gums. All the while the temperatures were high 20s / low 30s with a tail wind all the way. Couldn't have picked a better time to travel the long treeless plain.
We spent a couple of days camped next to Stephen's shed before heading back out to Lucky Bay (Cape Le Grande National Park) for our final holiday rest. Caught a couple of herring and spent a lovely time doing caravan things, reading and relaxing.
After a couple more days next to the shed we headed for the final stretch back to Manjimup. We had a really great stop at Borden recreation free stop and arrived back in town just on lunchtime.
The trip was just the best trip! We thoroughly enjoyed everything we did and never tired of life on the road, in the van or with each other.
Thank you for coming along on the journey with us and we hope you enjoyed it as much as us.
