April's Adventure around the world!
Hello everyone! South Africa is amazing! I arrived in cape town on the 10th of july. I arranged for airport pickup, so I will be safely transported to my hostel. I spent about 4 days in cape town. there is much to see in cape town. i meet some shark scientists and whale researchers. they invited me on a boat trip to see the whales. Unfortunately there where no whales in the bay on that day, but i did go to seal island and saw thousands of seals surfing some waves. we also saw a 11 foot great white shark. it was so huge. i took a picture of it. as soon as i get to a better computer, i plan to down load my pictures from peru until now. I went on a safari with a malaysian family that i had met. they were very nice. we also drove around cape point. it was a beautiful drive with cliffs and clear blue waters. the next day i relaxed and stayed in fish hoek. Knysna is the town i was in yesterday. my hostel overlooked a large blue lagoon surounded by some cliffs. words can not describe the ocean in south africa! tonight i arrived in jeffreys bay. there is a billibong surf competition going on here. so there are a lot of pro surfers out and about. i hope to get some good surfing in tomorrow if the pros dont surf. if they do, i will watch some of the greatest pros doing their stuff. it is winter here in south africa, so i will have to wear a wet suit to surf. i was also debating about skydiving, or jumping off the worlds biggest bungee jump. it is about 900 feet!!! How scarey! i am scared of hights, but it is sooo tempting! it costs about $200 for a sky dive, and about $60 for the bungee or maybe $80. i am trying to decide what i should do. i also want to repell down some mountain cliffs here. it depends on what my budget allows. i will keep everyone updated. internet is expensive and so are phone calls! Brrr i miss the summer! cant wait for warm weather! oh yeah i am also considering shark cage diving. tomorrow some friends are showing me around town and taking me to lunch, they even helped me find a place to stay in a hostel that was nearly booked. people are so hospitable here. i could defenitly live here one day. there are a lot of foriegners who do the same. I leave south africa on the 22nd! it is way to soon. there is much more to see here. i want to buy a surf board. the used ones are about 1000 rand which is about 142 dollars. that is really cheap for a board! if i go to more beaches it would be worth it. i guess i need to think about a lot. what activities to do and what to buy or not to buy. This place would be great in the summer!
