Hey!!! Its ben a little while since I updated this journal. Well as most of you already know, I have been applying to Roosevelt Academy here in Holland. It is an International Honors College. It is very competitive to be granted an invitation to study at this university. I applied a few months ago and have been waiting to hear from the university. Just as I was about to give up, the university contacted me for an interview. I was so excited!!! My next step was to prepare for the interview. I have attended 6 colleges and still I had never been in a college interview before. So I was a little nervous, but I did great! At the end of the interview they had told me that I was what they were looking for and I should expect an invitation to the University by next week. I was soooo happy!!!! I start in spring 2007 with finishing up my pre-med degree. Europe's education is much higher than the USA, so I feel very lucky to be getting high quality education!
What an unexpected turn of events in my world trip. I postponed south east asia for a college education in a country that is a leader in international education.
On top of all this good news, the family that I am staying with have been so supportive with my desicions and they would drop everything just to lend a helping hand. I have never in my life experienced such a great feeling of belonging. They are so kind and never ask for anything in return. Carla and Elly found jobs for me, and clothed me for the winter when money was tight. They feed me, teach me dutch and take care of me like I am their daughter! If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be able to put this all together and I would have to leave the one place in this world where I can say, "this is home and this is family".
I took this photo in Costa Rica, Yeah I know I need to add more photos of what I have been up to here in Holland. :)
