A surprise trip to a boutique hotel for Christmas.....Yes please!

So I was staying at my friend Elinor's apartment when I arrived in Bangkok and had planned to spend Christmas with some travel buddies in the city. But it turned out that Elinor's friend who she was going to be spending Christmas with at Hua Hin, a posh beach resort, had just cancelled at the last minute in order to fly home to europe instead. So she was left with a free spot in her booking and asked if I would like to join her as she couldn't get a refund on the booking! I couldn't believe my luck, after 5 months of backpacking and staying at the cheapest of the cheap backpacker hostels, I'm actually spending Christmas at a posh boutique hotel! We even got a taxi out here, not a shabby backpacker bus but a private taxi!

The hotel is awesome! We have a huge suite with our own balcony overlooking the beach, surround sound tv, free DVD rentals, a huuuuge bathroom, mini bar etc! Instead of sunloungers by the pool there are sofas! The restaurant has sea views. And it's so peaceful! When Elinor and her friend booked it a few months ago they got a deal on the room so it was a quarter of the price it normally is!

Lying by the pool listening to the Michael Buble Christmas album (which they have on repeat as background music throughout the whole hotel) Surreal Christmas!
