We arrived in Saigon and not for the first time were ripped off by a taxi driver who drove in basically a huge circle for 15 minutes and dropped us just around the corner (This only cost us £4 in total but it is the principle!). We had an Indian and checked in to a hotel for the night.
The next day we went to visit the Cu Chi Tunnels. These are the underground tunnels used by the Vietnamese soldiers during the war with America. We were shown the tunnel entrances (that were tiny), the trenches and traps used by the soldiers during the war. We tried (not sure how you spell it but...) Tapioca and sweet tea before heading down the tiny tunnels. Antonio had to crawl on his hands and knees but Angie could just crouch and walk! lol We were down there for about 5minutes and were roasting so we cannot imagine how people stayed down there for 8 hours at a time and lived most of there time down there for years!
We then visited the War Museum that was both educational and very moving. We saw some of the amazing photography taken during the war. A lot of American soldiers had donated things such as uniforms and medals to the museum as they believed they were wrong for their part in the war. We then saw replicas of the cells and torture equipment used to hold prisoners and learned all the disgusting torture techniques. It was a very amazing and educational experience. We then walked back to the centre via a lovely park were many people were exercising and practicing marshal arts. Went out for dinner that night and chilled as we were heading to Cambodia the next morning.
