Our next stop was Surfers paradise. When we arrived all the hostels advertised at the bus station, were full! Nightmare! We finally found somewhere called sun and surf and got a six bed dorm. Our first night was okay as we shared with a nice Scottish couple, however the other two nights were hell. We had to Australian girls who were a pain in the arse, who kept opening the windows without guards so mosquitoes and bugs could come in and came in really late and really loud waking everyone both nights. Apart from the dorm situation, Surfers was lots of fun.
We went out for dinner on our first night which was really nice, but we got caught in a torrential downpour that within minutes had shin high rain! Antonio (who as a hero braved the weather to ring a taxi that never came!) had to wring his clothes out in McDonalds where we took cover. The next two days we went to Dreamworld theme park were we rode "the big 6". This included a ride called "the big drop" (A 39 storey drop!!!!) that was amazing. We also visited the horror house, which was five levels or horror/phobia related rooms. At the end they take your photo and we were told ours was going on to the wall of shame as Antonio pulled the best zoolander face they had ever seen. Whilst in Surfers we had a panic attack as we could not load our travel card and were scrimping and saving with $22 cash we had on us (this does not go far in oz!). In the end it turned out okay, and was down to some idiot in a call centre somewhere!
