On our way to Nelson we stopped off in Greymouth to charge up the van, there was not a lot to do there so the next day we headed up to Nelson. After finding a freedom camping site we met up with Chris and Kirsty for a few drinks and spent the evening in our camper. The next day we explored Nelson seeing the queen's gardens, the Cathedral and the oldest street in New Zealand which still has the original cottages on it. Before leaving Nelson we also did walk which took us to the centre of New Zealand and also to a fantastic view point where we had views over the whole of Nelson and the surrounding areas.
The following day we went to Picton, a small town which is where the ferry from New Zealand's South Island departs heading to the North Island and Wellington. We went for a game of mini golf, where Antonio (of course) dominated! Angie was not a happy little traveller! The next day we parked our camper on the Ferry and made the 3 hour journey from the South Island to the North (a journey that is in the top 5 ferry journeys worldwide). Following in trend with everything else on our journey so far, the Ferry was naturally delayed! The first hour or so was spent watching the unique viewssail past however, not before too long the wind began to pick up and the water got quite rough. The waves got to around 3 meters high (the ship was more than fine with this as it can take waves up to 12 meters high) and the journey got very bumpy. Due to the constant movement inevitably loads of people were being sea sick all over the place and this combined with her inability to handle smells set Angie off.
