Argentina
We left our hotel at 9am on Wednesday morning to catch our first flight from Cartagena to Bogota where we would wait 10 hours for our connecting flight. The day was made easy by a group of people who every few hours did a song and dance performance. It was a bit like the T Mobile advert as people seemed to come from nowhere to join in. We got talking to some of the performers and on the last performance of the day they dragged Angie up to join in. The gringo did well!!!!!!!!!!
Iguazu
We caught our flight from Bogota to Buenos Aires and arrived the next morning to temperatures of 9 degrees. After spending the last few months in North Peru, Ecuador & the Caribbean coast of Colombia, this felt like minus 10 to us! We caught a 2 hour bus in to the city centre & then the sub way system to the main bus station. Unfortunately there were no buses until that evening, so we had to hang around the station for 7 hours. We finally boarded and were pleased with the flat bed bus, which served great food and even a glass of champagne. The next day we arrived in Puerto Iguazu and ended up checking into a hostel 1pm on Friday (52 hours after leaving the last place). We took on this monster journey for 1 reason, to visit Parque national Iguazu and we were not left disappointed. It was home to a breathtaking collection of waterfalls, considered the greatest anywhere in the world. We spent the day exploring the dozens of waterfalls, firstly from above were u get a great overview. We then explored them from below were you truly witness the greatness of their power first hand. At one point the spray that is produced drenches you like you are in a tropical storm. We then caught a train to the other side of the park called Garganta Del Diablo (The devils throat). Here there is an alcove of waterfalls that all hit the same point throwing water hundreds of feet up in the air soaking everyone. It was an unforgettable day.
Buenos Aires
From here we headed back on an overnight bus to Buenos Aires. We arrived back in BA to be greeted by the cold weather. After finding a hostel we wrapped up and headed out to the Zoo. We had a great day (apart from annoyed by the rude Argentineans) and got to see loads of animals including Tigers, Lions, Buffalos, Rhinos as well as Angie seeing her first hippo! We then headed to the Botanical gardens and had a walk round. The gardens were scattered with loads of big cats as the staff leave food everywhere for them. The next day (our lastL) we walked around the city centre visiting the Cathedral, the building made famous by Evita on the balcony and many other colonial buildings. After this we headed back for lunch fully intending to get an Argentinean Steak on our last day however, Antonio saw a challenge in BA Burger Kings there is a burger called the Big Stacker. This consists of 5 burgers, 5 layers of smothered melting cheese and a stack of bacon. It was challenge accepted and challenge completed as Antonio (Quite slowly finished it). He then mistook one of the workers in Burger King for Angie he declared to her face ''I am the conqueror of all burgers'' Hilarious! After an early night we left early the next day for the airport feeling a bit down that our trip was over, we boarded the plane and headed back to the UK after 10 months, 12 countries and 58 destinations our trip was finally over!
