We arrived in the romantic city of Cartagena mid afternoon with an American couple we met. We tried to get a taxi but he kept insisting that he could not fit all 4 of us and 4 big bags in. His car miraculously seemed to grow the moment we offered him a bit more money and he was happy to take us to the old town without further complaint! As we had to change our flights before we had decided that our money would go a lot further in here than it would in Argentina, meaning we would spend 2 weeks in the city. After getting our bearings and finding a place to stay we headed to the part f town called Bocagrande and checked in to a hotel for 2 weeks. As we were staying so long we were able to get a really good rate in a pretty nice place that was well below our daily budget and also included all our meals meaning we would have a bit more money for Argentina (what a Brucey bonus!)
As we were still on the Caribbean Coast pretty much everyday was 32+ so needless to say Angie spent pretty much all of her time around the pool working on that tan that is so desperately needed before we arrive back in the UK! Whilst in Cartagena we took a trip to a 15 meter high mud Volcano where you climb to the top and have a bath in the hot pool of mud at the top before going to the lagoon to wash off. We saw some of the different beaches around the city and also visited the old town again to actually explore it this time. We saw all the Colonial buildings and historical streets, which pretty much have remained untouched for hundreds of years as well as the Wall and cannons that go right around the city and are mostly still intact. By the end of our two weeks around this beautiful city we had met some locals and did not want to leave however we had to get to Argentina for the final week in our Adventure.
