Off at 5am for a 25 mile run to Serce Koyu, on the Bozburun Yarimadasi Peninsula. With only a narrow opening to the Marmaris Sea, this small bay has massive rock cliffs rising from under the sea.
Lou & I headed off for a canoe paddle, surprised to see a terraced hillside of rocks sprouting olive trees, a couple of calves, & a small jetty at the end of the bay announcing Captain Nemo's Farm Restaurant.
A visit to meet the entrepreneurial Captain Nemo in the tender was a treat.
In his 40's, knows he is good looking & in good nick, smooth as, unmarried, loves a chat, speaks perfect English, French, German - doesn't care to learn Russian or Greek. He lives in this isolated spot all year round, closest village 70kms away, nothing locks up, has everything from toilet paper to iced tea and disposable razors adorning the one restaurant wall.
Peter & Garry in seventh heaven, Hassan (we got to know Capt Nemo well), had the local form guide out, passed on tips for the local races, and got the hot tip on Black Caviar in return for Ascot on Saturday. He let us know the new jetty outside his restaurant was built this year on his racing winnings.
He had lobster for sale - fresh, alive , and each individually tied with a piece if string to the jetty. He coaxed them out so we could choose, those not sold get fed until they do.
Lazy day hanging out in this bay, swimming - the only cold water we have had, on canoes and the dinghy. After lunch under sail towards Rhodes, a few taks, and into Bozburun to have passports stamped yet again for entry back into Greece tomorrow to visit
Symi.
Whilst I am in the internet cafe, the rest of the throng enjoying the Viagra promotions throughout town, as everywhere in Turkey - buy one get one free.
Mooring off shore in our own bay overnight.
