Well, what an adventure we've had over the past week and a bit....
We joined the Kiwi Experience bus in Christchurch last Sunday and headed to Westport where we went on a 2 hour horse trek around the stunning countryside...in and out of creeks...galloping across fields...it was brilliant! The following morning, all a little saddle sore, we headed to Lake Mahinapua for the infamous "Pu" party at Les' pub. The theme for ours was togas, as chosen by Birthday Boy Travis from our bus. We looked like Roman godesses, i'm sure you'll agree!!!!?
Early the following morning, all severely hungover and tired, we boarded the bus bound for Lake Wanaka. We spent the rest of the day in Wanaka recovering and having baths (what a luxury!!!) and then awoke on Wednesday morning feeling refreshed and ready for our journey to Franz Josef. We signed up to do a skydive over the glacier but unfortunately the weather was too bad. Instead, we went on a long walk to the foot of the glacier, which involved wading through ice-cold streams in our trainers - AGONY! Was an amazing experience though.
On Friday we headed to Queenstown, where we've been until today. On Sunday Ray and Kate went on a day trip from Queenstown to Milford Sound, which I understand was awesome. And then on Monday we eventually got to do our Skydive!!!!!! MENTAL!! See the pics...i really don't have the words to describe how much we all enjoyed it, despite thinkin we were gonna die for the split second after throwing ourselves out of the plane!!! To congratratulate ourselves on being so brave we treated ourselves to a Fergburger (yep, you gotta be careful how you say it!!), which are these amazing, huge and a little bit posh burgers tht are very popular in Queenstown - delicious! With our stomachs well lined, we headed out on the town and congratulated ourselves even more with Jaeger-bombs and Sambuca!!
Today we arrived back in Christchurch, where we're staying for the night before heading upto Kaikoura in the morning, where we hope to swim with dolphins. V EXCITED!!
Hope you're all well at home, loads of love,
Annie, Kate and Ray xxxxx
