Woke up this morning to a group of police running around the outside of our grassy area and shouting some chant at the tops of their voices. Show-offs. Ate breakfast with an audience again but at least they were just standing at a distance and not taking pictures or videos. It's very green around here and also very hazy - not sure if it's heat haze or smog yet.
Drove along a very nice dual-carriageway all day today. We made good time and were at the edge of Lahore by 3, and we found some familiar brands of icecream and chocolate and felt like we were back in civilization a bit. The road around Lahore still went through some quite busy parts of it, including down some back streets where we caused some traffic jams (as usual), but Adam managed to get us through and we arrived at the border post at Wagha while the border closing ceremony was going on. We should be able to get back here from Amritsar in the next couple of days to see it. There's a motel here inside the gates of the border post where we camped on the lawn under some tall trees - eucalypt, mango and lychee trees among them. The nice thing about being inside a border post is that there aren't any locals around to watch us cook dinner.
