The armed escort led us out of Quetta the way we had driven in, and it wasn't until we were on the road outside town that Adam realised they were taking us in the wrong direction - we were heading south. We soon turned around and drove back around the outskirts of the city - it is a sprawling place that lies along a valley so it took ages to get around it again, losing us a couple of hours. We drove all day through more desert that was slightly more green, and through some hills, but we only made it as far as Loralai (less than 200km) before we stopped to camp in another police compound. This one is slightly nicer than the last one we stayed in but they still have disgusting toilets! We put our tents up on a grassy area between the colonial buildings and went through the usual drama of cooking dinner with crowds of men watching and taking pictures.
A couple of different groups went for an escorted walk around town. I went along after dinner, and it was rally busy in town with men everywhere - I think I only saw 2 women the whole day and they were covered completely. Managed to make it back to the police station without being harassed too much.
