The bus from Chitwan to Pokhara was pretty cozy - Shane barely fit in the seats, but it only cost 400 rp each. At first we could spread out a bit, but as we stopped at a few towns the bus filled up. There were two guys hanging out the door and trying to get every person on the side of the road to come to Pokhara. We headed into some steep valleys with a rushing river at the bottom, and climbed up and up. We reached Pokhara at about 3pm.
We had two nights in Pokhara. The touristy part of town is down by the lake, and has some great shopping and nice restaurants. We had a pretty chilled out time and didn't really do much apart from go boating on the lake in the morning. Other people hiked up to the Peace Pagoda and did other adventurous things. The real shame is that Pokhara is near the base of the Annapurna range, and you can usually see the snowy peaks from here over the lake, but at this time of year they were covered by cloud the whole time and we didn't see them at all :( We'll just have to come back and see them some other time!
We said a sad farewell to Steve O here who is going to do the Jomsom Trek before heading back home to Canada. Have fun mate!
