A two hour ferry from cebu to Bohol we got a private car to our hotel. Bohol has one big city which the port was in. We rented a car to get to our hotel. The woman said it was more expensive because it was up in the mountains and pointed to our hotel!
After reading about bohol it was best to stay on panglao island. It's a small island just off bohol which is connected by a bridge. We just thought because it's so small there would only be one main area to stay. However, the hotel we booked was as we've said on the mountain on the wrong side of the island. To be fair to the hotel, it was nice with unbelievable views of the city. It was perfect for weddings and other types of function parties. There wasn't many western people there at all, there wasn't any restaurants, bars or shops around.
It was nice to have a couple of days doing nothing though, as we have both said that were tired of packing our bags every two days and moving somewhere else! I know it sounds stupid but 3 and a half months of constantly exploring stuff is tiring! We had the pool and surrounding areas to ourselves. By 6 o clock we were bored though. So both nights we got a taxi into the city. The first night arsenal were playing Tottenham. We went to the sports bar in the mall but there was no luck. Instead, there was a band playing who sang all the popular songs from England and we're very good. So it was twitter updates for the score and overall a good night. We were escorted out of the mall and we're waiting for a cab. We asked how much a tricycle was to our hotel and it was half the price of a taxi - done!
The second evening we went to the cinema! Having no idea of the price we booked the tickets for London has Fallen. 1.70 for the ticket - very good film by the way. Again, after the film we went out of the mall and found a tricycle. By the way, if you haven't noticed everything's in the malls here!! We agreed on the price and up the mountains we went. Now, it's pretty obvious but the hill was massive! The tricycle driver obviously had never been to the hotel. We got half way up the hill and stopped. We both had to get out and walk up the hill a little. Then we came to a flat but the hill would shortly start again after the corner. Jake said Anne marie get in and I'll walk up the rest! When we finally reached the hotel, us, the driver and the security guard were in fits of laughter as we nearly tipped over when we came to a halt.
We moved across to the other side of panglao island. We stayed at panglao tropical villas. This was more us, nice beach, nice room and more lively. Although we were still around a mile from the main strip. We stopped two locals and paid them to give us a backy down to alona beach. A very decent beach with many restaurants to choose from, white sand, crystal clear waters, marine life and some all day happy hour beers. That's pretty much it for the two days. We have a flight from cebu to boracay tomorrow so it's a full day of travel. The card game between us is getting serious now. We have started to keep score. Since we started Anne marie has got off to a flyer leading the serious 4-1. Including a whitewash on one of the games 100 points to nil. ( when you lose you have to add up your total, first one to 100 is the loser, meaning Anne Marie didn't lose one hand!)
