After having descended Little Adam's Peak, we arrived back at the bus at around 9.25. We continued on our way back through Ella and on down the mountain pass to Rawana waterfall 15 minutes down the road. According to legend, it is said that Ravana (the king of Sri Lanka at the time) had kidnapped Princess Sita, and had hidden her in the caves behind this waterfall, now simply known as the Ravana Ella Cave. We travelled for an hour or so before stopping to watch traditional clay pot makers creating pots on the wheels. Having stopped for 1/2 hour we continued on our way till we reached Niwehana a couple or hours drive away,where we stopped for rice and curry ( seer-fish or lake fish as our meat). We also had curd and palm fleet treacle, (this area being famous for its water buffalo curd). At around 12.45 we continued on our way.

Arrived at our hotel at around 3.30 and had the afternoon to do as we wished. We were all so tired after the 5 hour drive that most of us headed straight for the beach and had a swim after dropping our bags. The South coast of Sri Lanka is renowned for it's stilt fishermen, which are awesome to see.

The train pulled into Ella station at 13.45, the journey having taken 1.5 hours, winding down through the mountains, giving us spectacular views of the tea plantations and villages along the way. We were met at the station by our coach and driver who dove us a short distance to a restaurant for lunch which consisted of roti (stuffed pancake) with a stuffing of our choice. I went for chicken. Woke up at 7.00 for breakfast at 8.00. (curry and rice or noodles seems to be the usual Sri Lankan , my motto is to do as the Romans do, so this has been my choice along the route, and is normally a wise choice).
