Hola!
Just had the most amazing day! I went white water rafting on the Jondachiet and Hollin rivers in the jungle near Tena, grade three and four rivers. We went deep into the jungle and saw beautiful waterfalls, birds and butterflies.
Before we even got to the river we had to trek through the jungle for about 20minutes and then we visited a secluded waterfall complete with it's own caves. There was an opportunity to jump from the top of the waterfall into the pool below but funnily enough not one person decided to do it! There were groups of bats hanging from the steep sides near the waterfall as well. after a little swim we headed back to the rafts to begin the trip. There were two rafts with four people in each plus two guides and a safety kayak. The guy in the safety kayak had a waterproof camera, which is why I have some really good photos. I was in the red raft with a really annoying girl from Holland, an American and an Aussie guy. There was a Swiss couple in the blue raft with two really cool girls, Liz from New Zealand and Candice from Australia.
The first river had loads of rapids where we had to avoid big boulders, we had fun in a 'washing machine' where the guide pretended we were stuck for ages and just about to flip over so we had to cling onto one side of the raft and try and paddle out with the other had. After a while he just moved over to the other side of the raft and 'magically' we got out of the rapid! There was the usual tricks where they pretended there was something wrong with the raft and then pushed you in, we also got out at some of the bigger waterfalls and played Tarzan swinging from some of the vines. After a fantastic lunch, which included chocolate cake! We headed down the second river, which was bigger and had much better rapids including one called 'the waffle maker' and 'blackjack'.
The guides were really good and we all ended up going out that night. It was definetely the best day of the trip so far and I'm def going to do some more rafting in Peru!
