Spent about an hour typing an entry in Dunedin then lost it, so i'm pasting on Al's emails and editing them because i can't spend another hour writing the same thing again.....
!0th November....
"Im currently suffering quite badly from a
stinking hangover!! Did the Speights brewery tour last night and dont
remember coming home! For those not in the know Speights is a beer over
here, probably the most popular, and its brewed in Dunedin. We did the
Cadbury's tour and the Speights on the same day and got a big discount...
BONUS! Anyway we did the brewery in the evening and got to try all the
beers at the end, basically it was about 45min free bar.... my head hurts so
much! The guide decided that he would challenge the coach driver of the
backpackers tour (who was on the brewery tour with us) to neck a glass of
beer... not a pint but about 2 thirds of. He did it in 5 point something
secs, then the guide necked his in 4 seconds dead, another english guyt had
a go and failed, the guide was boasting a bit so i decided to have a go and
put the kiwi in his place! Well i necked mine in 2.7 secs..... at least i
learnt something at uni! After that the night is a blur, went out with the
other backpackers as far as i remember.
After Christchurch we drove inland to Mt Cook, stopping off at Lake Tekapo,
it was an amazing drive, the most beautifull part of NZ yet, the lakes there
are glacial the most amazing turqoise colour. We spent a noight at Mt Cook,
but it was so cloudy and rainy that we didnt get to see Mt Cook, but we went
for a walk to see a couple of the glaciers which was cool.
After leaving Mt Cook we stopped of just outside Omaru on the way to
Dunedin, we camped next to a feild of massive bulls which was cool, CHarlie
was talking to them a lot and trying to feed them grass, also feeding them
his chocolate sweets... they became friends!!
On the drive down we stopped to see a Yellow eyed penguin colony, but onyl
saw one, still cool though, also saw the Mouraki Boulders.... they're round,
thats all there is to say about them really, cool though they are meant to
be millions of years old and no-one knows why they are round.
Dunediin is really nice place lots of people thinking they are scottish
though.
Got here on Tuesday and went out with Tom and his mates, wednesday was a
right off too hungover to dnythign and it was raining and the temp
dropped to 3 degrees! We stayed in the campsite all day! Thursday we actuall
got out and Tom took us to see some of the beaches aroud Dunedin, they were
really nice and thankfully the weather had cleared up! We saw a massive Sea
Lion on the beach which was cool. Yesterday i have told u already, we went
to Cadbury world which was cool, lots free chocolate so i aint complaining,
and then the brewery, off to Invercargill today,"
That was so much easier than writing it myself!!!!!
