OK, so a little update. I finished working on the farm and started heading down the east coast.
The farm was great in the end but I was getting too muscular so had to leave! I went back to Carins 1st for a night and then down to Mission Beach, which was really chilled. There I met lots of people heading down the coast. After Mission Beach it was off to Magnetic Island where I got to hold a Koala at a sactuary. We hired a jeep which was a lovely pink colour, then back to the hostel for a BBQ and a Sunday session.
Next stop was Airlie beach and sailing. After waking up feeling a bit rough from the night before, we found our boat, "The Ron of Argyll", met the crew and set sail! It was a 2-night 3 day trip and was really good fun. On the last day it was my birthday so was good waking up in the middle of the Great Barrier Reef and going snorkelling first thing! I was quite spoilt and had a really good day. Out there you had to wear a stinger suit every time you went in the sea, which was a bit of a pain but it had to be done! We went back to the mainland and went straight out for a few cheeky beers. Some friends came down from the farm for it, so it was quite a long day in the end, but good to see everyone.
The next day it was off to 1770, but the bus did not leave till midnight so went down to the beach for a bbq! 1770 is a town named after the year that Captain Cook arrived and is tiny but cheap and really cool. We did a 3 hour surf lesson which was only 16 dollars and I was actually quite good to start with, although I got worse as the morning grew on! Next we did the scooteroo, which is a scooter done up like a Harley! We drove all round town and ended up on the rocks watching the sun set with some wedges and a fizzy pop!
Next was a stop at Bundaberg - home of the rum but it turned it to a scene of casualty! Our Greyhound bus crashed into a lorry and everyone had to be taken to hospital. It made it on to the national news, which said that 2 people had broken legs, but they didn't! I got free sandwiches, a support pack from the Red Cross and a counselling number for shock! It was all exciting stuff with the emergency services there. So in the end, I ended up in Bundaberg at 5pm instead of 10am so the rum factory was closed - but I did see it! At night we went down to the beach to see the turtles lay eggs, which was really amazing and you see them so close!
I'm now in Rainbow beach and off to do camping on Fraser Island tommorow for 3 days 2 nights.
I've got lots more photos to do but the internet cafes down the coast don't allow USBs, so I've got a backlog at the moment, but as requested, there are some now!
Its all good fun!
