Storm stops play
We were up before 9 again after a thankfully dry night, we weren't sure how waterproof our tent was, but it stood up to the storm last night without a problem. We had hoped today to take one of the many collectivos that say 'playa' (beach) on them to a lagoon but as it was still cloudy and threatening rain we decided to wait a while and see what the weather would do. So instead we sat and had a coffee at the on site restaurant and caught up on our blogs for the last few days as well as using the depressingly slow internet to see what was going on in the world. This took us to 12 and the weather had been on and off showers so we figured we wouldn't be going to the beach after all. We spent a little more time discussing what we would do instead and ended up not really doing very much at all except for going into town to get some lunch (rather late at 3 o'clock), buy our bus tickets for the next day and get some bits for dinner. Our lunch was a pleasant surprise however, we saw a cheap chicken place by the bus station and bought half a roast chicken, some tortillas, spaghetti(?!!) refried beans, salad and salsa to take away for under $4!! What we hadn't reckoned on of course was how on earth we were going to eat it without cutlery or plates as it would have cost extra to eat in. We solved the problem by sitting in the park area on a bench, using the bag it came in as a plate and our fingers as the cutlery, it was a very messy business but totally delicious and we enjoyed it even if we did get some odd looks from passers by! Shortly after lunch we headed back to the camp site in another collectivo and went for our usual swim in the pool. This time however, instead of just lounging around like we usually do we felt like we hadn't really done any exercise that day and so did 50 or 60 lengths before feeling satisfied that we had earned the tequila we had bought and dinner later on. Once again the clouds started to roll in and we were forced to make a hasty retreat to the tent at about 7 when it started raining again. We ate dinner in the tent a little later as we listened to our audio book but by 9 the rain came down so hard and with the thunder and lightening too we were unable to hear it and so lay and listened to the storm that lasted well into the night.
