Today we set off on The Waterfall Way, expecting great scenery and some stunning views, with waterfalls cascading down mountains and interesting walks. What we got however was slightly different. Racing up highway 1 we got to our next destination - Coffs Harbour. This was the first time we were to enter a city that felt like something in the states, with loads of traffic and large restaurant and fast food chains on the side of the road. Well buoyed up by a smashing time at Port Stephens we made our way up the road a few Km to another port, this time Port Macquarie. Our campsite was situated on the side of a road just like Tritton Road in Lincoln, it even had lots of car dealerships and some exhaust workshops, hardly the most stunning scenery! Port Stephens was our first stop in our new campervan. Two of our highlights come from here. The first was a day spent at sea whale watching. This was awesome and we were lucky to see Humpback whales surfacing and jumping out of the water. Dolphins also raced in front of our boat and it was fantastic to see them playing. We set off from Sydney for our couples of days in the blue mountains. Our hostel here was the YHA and it was fantastic. As the weather was cold it was great to be able to sit in a great big lounge with a roaring fire. It was like a big country lodge and the staff were ace.
