Well, we attended our second south american party last night!
One of the girls at our hostel is from germany and only started working there last wk, so this was her welcome party. Yet again, we had to force food down our faces to avoid looking rude, as we had eaten dinner a few hrs prior to the unexpected event, however, we were not made to drink snot juice this time - thank god! Everyone was really friendly and most had abit of English, although we generally conversed in a Spanglish confusion of languages!
Today we have had a fab day - been on a boat trip to the Humbolt national park, which consists of a group of islands which host the Humbolt penguins, sealions, cormerants and many other sea birds. We were also lucky enough to come across a massive group of bottle nosed dolphins TWICE during our little excursion - they swam with the boat and did some spectacular jumps and generally surfed the waves around us - very cool.
We had a really nice guide, who spoke great english, and the food was GREAT! Fresh mussel type things to start and then fresh fish - very nice, makes a change from carbs!?
Unfortunately couldn't go to visit the observatories last night (they are world class apparently) cos it was too cloudy - poo. Will keep booking til we succeed!
