We finished up D.C. today by heading to the National Zoo. They had some unique things such as Pandas, but it was so small compared to the one from Oklahoma City. I just found it funny how it claims to be the National Zoo, when it is smaller compared to one from Oklahoma. After the Zoo we headed down the good old road to Jamestown. We stopped at the Marine Corps Musesum to have lunch, but sadly did not get to go inside the Museum itself. With our bellies full we hopped back on the bus to Jamestown. At Jamestown we got to see a Native American Village, an English Settlement, and some re-creations of ships that they traveled on from England. We got to see a musket being fired as well (Thankfully not at anybody). We then went inside and saw an Exhibition of the place which was quite interesting, but like most places we did not get to spend much time there. It really helped to fill in the holes of the main idea and historical impact of the town. We got back onto the air-conditioned bus and rode to Williamsburg. It seemed like the day was way shorter than it actually was when you look at the events of the day, but the heat makes it drag on and on. In Williamsburg we got some time to wander about and have supper. We then got on to the main event of the day. We participated in this event called "In Defense of Our Liberty!" (Say it in a really deep and dramatic voice). Basically, it is like playing soldiers, but instead of all the unorganized play and playful sound affects made with your mouth... you get something a bit different. You have trained reanactors screaming in your face, eardrum-popping musket fire, while walking shoulder to shoulder with your muscles cramping, and the Virginia humidity cooking you from the inside, and the occasional dead person dropping down at your feet. (No matter what everybody else tells you, I did not cry... crying is more than one tear, I shed one tear.) It was actually really fun and I felt I had earned a good night's sleep.
