"Just remember these funny place names, Walla Walla, Keokuk, Cucamonga, Seattle"
With Elise back to working life (yuk what a drag), I decided I'd would head down to Seattle for a few days and catch up with Ozzie. A friend who Dias and I had spent a few weeks with through on the last trip. I got to town ad wondered a little on my own. I saw the first ever Starbucks! Yes that's where it started so find anything and everything you have rotting lets come back and let them know just how delicious the coffee really is! I shouldn't really bad mouth them to bad their free wifi is always nice and the pumpkin spiced latte is good... Oh arh, I didn't mean to type that, I mean s***, yeah yeah s*** that's what it is...
Ozzie had told me to crash at his place and I'm glad I did. I couldn't have booked a better location. It was right downtown and his couch would shame any hostel "bed". He then gave a tour of the city, most of it culinary. Not that I complained. I had fresh donut holes in the markets, roasted nuts, beers, little wine, but the strangest thing was a shooter from the fish markets. An Oyster, some cocktail sauce made up with extra lemon and chilli. One, two, three down the hatch and it's damn good. Might like oysters yet. The other highlight was Monday Night Football! Its the big night for NFL. The Seattle Seahawks VS Green Bay Packers (still not sure what they are packing exactly). We went down town to the oval and the whole city was a buzz. Bars in the area all packed with fans who couldn't get a ticket. It went right to the wire. After giving up possession with under 2 mins to go the Seahawks got it back and with a buzzer beater hail mary throw to score a touchdown took the lead. But the catch was very controversial with one umpire says catch to Packers the other Seahawks. It was awarded but is been regarded since as one of the worst ever calls.
Ozzies work also required a short road trip out to Spokane. A smallish city on the other side of the of the state. He had to host an event for the new Nissan Altima. We smashed the drive and is the mostly quite event at the local dealership. So country America is still really not sure about Australia and asked some rather stupid questions. Didn't matter we went back to a local friend of Ozzies where we crashed before the drive home. On the way I did my first little drive from about half way over the mountains and into Seattle. It's not hard at all, maybe a nervous 15mins but then I got it. Practise for the big road trip coming up :)...
