Life is Highway, I'm gonna drive it, all night long"
It's been one of the highlights I was looking forward to since the start. Ozzie and me in the brand new Nissan Pathfinder trekking across America from Nashville all the way to Seattle. The route we chose ment we drove Memphis, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Nevada, Idaho, Oregon and finally Washington. A grand total of 5000kms.
We wanted to hit it hard from the start but that was ruined when we hit a tornado warning and serve storm forcing us to stop before even leaving Tennessee. At the hotel we met Lyle, Jeremy and Dave all continuing with us to Vegas. The convoy then got an early start and we did 18hours driving all the way to Albuquerque. Almost hitch free except one car burning excess fuel but a quick stop at a local Nissan sorted that in 30 mins. Next day we checked out the Grand Canyon and pulled up in Vegas. Via Las Vegas!
After two night and days of partying, pools, bars, clubs and gaming, all of which I lost at we busted out and started the epic drive through Nevada and the nothing ness of the desert. I did most of the driving that day Ozzie wasn't feeling the best after the Vegas bender. It was all going well until I got pulled over for speeding. After the officer saw the out of country licence and the brand new car with no real details or insurance he let me go with a warning. Thank god.
The end of the drive got interesting to when after a storm and desert heat Mother Nature threw her last curve ball. Snow. It's snowed on us as we drove over the pass on the last day into Seattle. Couldn't believe that we had seen the full circle of what she can offer.
After all this though it was good to make it. Thanks to Ozzie and Nissan for covering all my fuel, and accom costs. Made it nice and cheap and something I won't forget.
I wasn't in Seattle long. Enough time for a big home made Columbian soup from Ozzies mum and a good nights rest I was good to go again. Lucky because I had a plane to catch!
