Continuing our little road trip we headed into South Australia (briefly!) We had to put our clock back 30 minutes and chuck any fruit and veg, you forget each state is like its own separate country!
We stayed the night at Naracoorte, where we got a great big buffet dinner for $8 - bargain! Then in the morning we went to the Naracoorte Caves, which were very interesting, with the fossils of some huge animals that have been extinct from Australia for many years.
We drove on to the coast to a town called Robe, where there are limestone cliffs and the famous obleisk there is about to disappear into the sea. The views were beautiful with white sand and sea! We then drove on down the coast to Mount Gambier where there is a massive volcano crater which is full of water. Usually the water is a dull grey colour except for a few days of the year when it is a brilliant blue! We were lucky and got the blue colour, which Irene couldn't believe as she has only ever seen in grey all the years she has lived here!
So that was the end of our road trip as we headed back to Colac. In two days we had driven 1100km and were pretty tired! It is crazy how big the country is and how far you have to drive to get anywhere!
Lots of Love
