We arrived in Queenstown, the adventure capital of the world, Tuesday afternoon after a very scenic lunch by the Lake Wakatipu with the snow capped mountains surrounding us and the sun was shining - horray!!
Queenstown, as everyone had told us, was beautiful, set right on the Lake with snow capped mountains called The Remarkables all around! It reminded us of a alpine village with all the chalets, it is definately set up for the tourists, every building is a hotel, bar, restaurant or tour comapny!
You can do pretty much anything you want here, but unfortunately we have already spent our adventure budget so we were chilling out for a few days! Although we did have a good night out with the couple from Leeds, Ed and Kate who we had previously met in Kaikoura!
We did however go up on the gondola for amazing views of the Queenstown region and had great fun riding on the luge, including our usual competiveness which saw Andrew nearly bump me completely off the track!!
We did have one mission to sort, we noticed the two front tyres were completely bald, right down to the metal wire - we were a blow out waiting to happen!! There is no way we would have done it even in the 5000km we have driven! So a very angry Andrew got on the phone to Escape and sorted it out so we now have two brand new front tyres and some grip at no extra cost to us!!
We also nipped up to Glenorchy which is right at the end of the lake and dubbed 'the gateway to paradise' and it certainly was. The views over the lake during the drive there were some of the most beautiful we have ever seen!
Right better go lots to see and do!
Lots of Love
Sarah and Andrew xxx
