After a day on the bikes coming over the Hai Van pass we finally got to Hoi An and instead of taking us straight to our hotel they took us to their "families" tailors. We arrived in Luang Prabang from Vang Vieng and it was like a breath of fresh air, the town is so nice, lots of colonial French architecture, a river on both sides and loads of really nice restaurants and coffee shops. We arrived in Vang Vieng at about 7pm, it was chucking it down and we didn't have a room booked. This is not one of our ideal scenario's, especially when a lot of the rooms we asked about were too expensive.
