Our trip from San Francisco was long and the boys found the trip hard going. We didn't get lost and only had one mishap. At the end of our journey Mike was doing a U Turn, (legal) and ended up trying to drive down the wrong side of an adjacent street. He had just completed a 10 hour drive with 3 squabbling boys in the back seat and 'possibly' a nagging wife sitting beside him - so he did very well.
Day One
We took a day trip to Tijuana. I hate the place but you gotta do it. The boys bought the normal rubbish and so did I! Mike bargained the back side off everybody and I felt really bad for them. We got totally sucked in by a barman (for want of a better word) who convinced us to go in and have a drink. Mike and I decided to have a Marguarita - it was pretty much non-alcoholic and they gave us two for the price of one...not that we asked. It cost us $24 for our drinks and a can for each of the boys. In the end we shared the Marguaritas with the big boys...they loved them and we all left the bar very sober :-) We did some shopping at the Bazaar back on the American side of the border. Our first shopping meltdown! Once again, it wasn't me. (I was able to choose from a whole selection of $6 jeans and sandshoes. But poor Jack wanted some shoes and they only had a size nine in the style he wanted....in the end he got them. Afterall, they were only $5 and he is a size 8. :-)
BTW: 10 mins to get across the border from the US to Mexico; 2 hours to get back in!!
Day Two
Went to Seaworld today. We got to the gates and saw we weren't allowed to take food in. Lucky for us the boys will eat at any time. so we ate our lunch before we went in. We went on a ride which I thought was pretty tame. George was tall enough and it looked like a ride down a slope into a water trough. It wasn't!! It was like a 1/2 corkscrew roller coaster - I screamed all the way around and George looked terrified and very white at the end.
We spent six hours there with a lot of queuing and walking. Overrated I think but once again, it's something you've got to do with the kids. We came home, went for a swim and had sandwiches for tea again. We're having a lot of picnic teas but at the moment because breakfast is free and the boys are making the most of it. Eggs, sausages, cereals, pancakes and toast. Not to mention the Muffins and Danishes. And so many people have coke with their breakfast! Not that I spend all my time acting like the food police...but breakfast time is very entertaining.
Day Three
OK, I am over Theme Parks. Today we went to Legoland, we are all exhausted and in need of a good nights sleep and days rest. You know the family have had enough when George leaves Legoland with no Lego but a Pirate Outfit. He walked through the carpark saying "Arrrhh I'm a pirate and I've lost an eye." After that we sent the two big boys to the pool while we went to the Hotel's happy 'two' hour, with George. After a mug of wine and two colourful rum punches we made microwaved corndogs for the boys....life is good and very blurry...
Tomorrow we're off to Anaheim. (b*****, more Theme Parks!!)
