Wow, so this is it. I leave London in about 6 hours & am on my way home. I actually can't believe that its all almost over.
The last few days since Munich absolutely flew by. We had 2 reasonably short drives which was fantastic, and then 2 long ones which wasnt so good. The first was from Munich to Prague.
We spent the afternoon in Prague just wandering around checking out the sights before heading out that night to a pub called the beer factory. It was quite interesting there as they had 4 taps in the middle of the table which were connected to a keg, and everyone just poured their own beers & it kept a tally of how much your table had drunk. It then showed on a big screen how much each table had drunk so all the tables were competing against one another. Quite a dangerous competition I believe, but still a good night.
The next day we had a lunchtime cruise up the river which was beautiful. strange though as the water levels of the river change so drastically as you travel along it, so you have to go into these barrages where they either push you up, or let you down. kinda the same idea as when you go from salt water to fresh water at the end of the murray.
We then drove to Berlin & had a 2 hour stopover in Dresden along the way. I loved having that stopover because it meant I got the chance to see a German city I hadnt actually seen yet. I had an amazing time in Berlin, & the first night I actually went and saw National Treasure 2 in german which was good fun, but i really enjoyed the movie, before catching up with the rest of the group who were partying at the hostel next door to our hotel. That was a funny night because there was actually an international beat boxing competition on at the time & they were actually really good.
The next day we did a walking tour as a group & saw all of the main sights, which I had seen before but loved the opportunity to see again. That afternoon I went to the Zoo n saw Knut (the famous little polar bear) along with elephants, hippos, and so many types of monkeys its not funny. It actually made me realise how small the Adelaide Zoo really is. That night we had dinner and then a nightlife tour as a group, which took us to 3 pubs, and 2 clubs, which as you can imagine got quite messy towards the end. However everyone made it home in one piece, & I was loving the fact that I actually understood what the taxi driver was saying, unlike in all the other countries we'd been too.
The next day we left the hotel at 7am after not going to bed at all, & for once I was happy to be on the bus with a chance to sleep. We arrived in Amsterdam late in the afternoon, & then headed into town that night for a group tour of the red light district. It was definitely an experience to say the least!
The next day we started at Anne Franks house, & then spent the morning & early afternoon strolling around what is actually a beautiful city. At 4 we headed off on another group excursion to a traditional clog & cheese making 'factory' except they're hand made so its not really a factory. & were shown how they make the cheese and the clogs & had the opportunity to buy some, but somehow i resisted the urge to buy wooden shoes. We then went to a fishing village in a nearby town for another amazing dinner (which we named the last supper) before heading back to Amsterdam for our last group outing, another river cruise. It was quite sad, & most people just spent the time taking photos & saying the beginnings of what would be alot of goodbyes. We spent the night out on the town together as a big group, and again there was not alot of sleeping.
The next day was really sad though as only 18 of us travelled back to London on the bus so we had to say alot of goodbyes in Amsterdam before getting on a bus to drive for what seemed like forever. Unfortunately our tour guide slept through his alarm so we just missed the ferry we were meant to catch and had to wait for 1.5hours at Calais for the next one which meant the drive took even longer than it was supposed to. But we made it back to London safetly & I remembered how much I dont actually like this city.
We did a little bit of sight seeing that night, and then again the next day, but of all the places I've been in the last 6 weeks, London is not in the top 10.
Anyways, thank you all for reading & I will see you again really soon.
I arrive back in Adelaide at 7.30am Friday morning for any of you who dont know, & I will try to get in touch with you all as soon as I have the chance!
Love Amz
