Hi to all of my loved ones!
I apologise now that this is probably going to be my one and only update for the trip but I just haven't had the chance to get on the net.
As you can see we are currently in Oudtshoorn which is a country town known for being the ostrich capitol of the world! So quite fittingly we spent day 6 of our adventure tour climbing through the Cango Caves (with tunnels such as the 'tunnel of love', 'devil's chamber', 'the coffin', 'the postbox' which I managed to get my slightly claustrophobic self through) before cycling downhill on dodgy as mountain bikes to the Cango Ostrich Farm where we saw chicks hatching, held a baby ostrich, fed them and some people even got to ride them. They are crazy birds! And tomorrow, we are driving to Cape Town the most popular tourist destination in South Africa and I cannot wait. Bring on the sandboarding and the abseilling! We are there for 4 nights before flying to Johannesburg and the heading to Blyde River, through the Drakensburg Mountains to Kruger National Park.
I'm not that excited about Kruger as we spent to first two weeks on a game reserve called Welgevonden and managed to see pretty much everything! The big 5 (rhino, elephant, buffalo, leopard and lion), plus cool animals like giraffes and zebra, and the ugly ones like warthog, hyena, and wildebeast. My favourite type of antelope is officially the kudo though which unfortunately we have even eaten for dinner! It wasn't all fun and games though. We spent several days counting the different types of grass and dung on grass plots before going on a two day drive around the park to count every single animal we saw... they were long days!
The adventure tour has been amazing though. In Jeffreys Bay we went horseback riding along the sand dunes and beach and the horse I rode (Dexter) was probably the fastest horse I've ever ridden. It was amazing! We then attempted surfing but unfortunately the weather wasn't fantastic so we did a little body surfing and I caught a couple of waves before getting hammered by the waves and heading home for some drinks at the very cheap backpackers we were staying at! The next day we went shopping at the Billabong outlets and then drove to Storms River to do our zip-line tree-top tour which was one way to challang my fear of heights! I was given another opportunity the next day after our hike to a waterfall where we did some cliff jumping, but much to calebs disgust I chickened out of the largest bridge bungee (218m) in the world and in stead when one a river tour by boat! Yesterday we headed to Plettenburg Bay and went Kayaking in the ocean and saw a couple of sharks and seals which was an interesting experience before driving to Oudtshoorn where I am now sitting in the internet cafe at the backpackers spending my valuable time on you!!!
I have hundreds of photo's to show you all already but I do promise I will cut out the crap and only show you the decent ones!
Love you and miss you all and can't wait to see you all when I'm back in February!
Please update me in any new and interesting occurances which have occured in my absences.
