Wednesday 2 September
It's a little late by the time we get up and again the noisy ppl have up and gone. I want to have my groats for breakfast. They come in little separate cooking bags of wheat, barley, millet and buckwheat. Unfortunately I can't read the cooking times but the manager helps. The times are different for each grain. I cook buckwheat and millet and enjoy then with sour cream and salt. Reminded me a rolled buckwheat mum once made for me from a clearance from bin-inn. A quick re cook product from this side of the world.
Malcolm has found a city tour so we head off to find a point of start. Almost 2km away. We walk there, to the square and check with some girls at the information centre then walk to where we think the bus will stop. It stops down the street further and we have to run to catch it. We get off to check out some attractions. There are beautiful churches and canals that run around the city islands. Most of the buildings in the Main Street are beautiful in their architecture. The palace square is huge and amazing.
A few things I've really noticed here and London too for that mater, is the amount if ppl who smoke! So many. And a lot if women too. I guess the government hasn't decided it's important to provide incentives to stop. The other thing is the pipes. It's annoying that the shower fills up with water coz the pipes don't take the water away fast enough. One thing though, so far significantly less homeless ppl seen in the main areas. Maybe it's the weather. We have to wait half an hour for the bus to come around so I don't want to get off again! The sun disappears and it's quite cold. Once we finish the loop we walk back and it's about 4 pm. I research what to see tomorrow and then get dinner.
