Tuesday 1 September
I'm coming down with something. I can feel it. Especially my throat and body aches. We check out and wait for the bus. It's free close to the airport. We get checked in and through security where we eat something for breakfast. The duty free stores are high end! Prada, harrods and Hermes! It's nice to look in from the windows. The gate doesn't show up on the board till late. We end up leaving late as the plane arrived late. I try and sleep. Almost always a pointless effort on a plane. There are just no comfortable positions! It's off the plane and straight into checkpoint lines. It's drama free, but still daunting knowing it's history and not knowing the language. At all. Thankfully there is wifi free at the airport and we plot our route on google maps. Really, travelling without it would be very daunting and more confusing than it is. Especially with the language barrier. Even with it things don't go 100% smoothly, but by then we are out of wifi! Thankfully when google loads, it loads more than 1 option and then saves those. It turns out we caught the wrong 2nd bus. We figure which subway we need, get tickets and follow the ppl through the deep maze that is the subway. The subway is pretty nice with all tiled walls etc; the trains are old. It's a short walk from the train to where the map says it is, but there is no obvious hostel in site at that number. Thankfully a kind man exiting from that number helps us. Turns out it's around the back, through a car repair yard and through a locked door. We make it. Thanks to the kindness and time of a stranger.
We get settled then go grocery shopping( thankfully not far). Malcolm has dinner, I'm feeling worse so skip in favour of shower and bed. Noisy late comers awake us in the night.
