Monday 15th June
We take our time getting up and ready. Breakfast is chickpeas and lentils. Both very nice and fulling and we don't gave to carry them around any more! We leave our bags in storage and set about to find the vans that go to the ruins. There is a man on the corner who asks us if we need help. He directs us to the vans. It's a short simple trip to the national park where the ruins are. We pay for a guide who takes us around for 1.5 hours in the jungle. He is very good and we see some pools built around a stream and springs. We walk up through an underground water tunnel. The water is cool and crystal clear. It's extremely hot and humid and uncomfortable. Once the guided tour is over we enter the main section of excavated ruins. It's lovely like a park, but the heat makes it nearly unbearable. Sadly, the museum is shut. Because it's Monday! We walk abound the streets and treat ourselves to cool water and fruit ice blocks. Back at the hostel we catch up on internet, get our bags and head to the bus station. We decide on getting the earlier bus. I head off on a walk to check out the tourist section which turns out to be just a nice treed area with hotels and restaurants not many ppl about. I keep on walking and order pizza for dinner from a take away place.
Thankfully the bus is on time and off we go.
