Monday 28 September
It's still dark so it's hard to know the time! But it's later than I thought! Once we are up and eaten we head out to catch the hop on hop off bus tour. Just down from the hostel is a train ticket place and we get our tickets for tomorrow morning printed. Less things to do in the morning! We walk down a fancy pedestrian street, but we are just too late and miss the bus. We pass time checking out a famous shopping mall. We hop off at the yu gardens. It's a cool little network of traditional buildings with dozens of shops. You have to buy for the garden so we pass. I buy some stamps from the post office. Malcolm buys a range of sweet traditional treats to try. It's just starting to spit as we get back on the bus. In order to complete all the loops we have to change busses and it's raining quite a bit. Not ideal for an open top bus. But we have an umbrella and it is suffice for the light rain. And when lots of ppl get off we change to under cover. We go through part of the peoples square. It's a lovely park area and then look for a supermarket but don't see one. Malcolm buys some water from a mini mart. We walk back toward the hostel. We get asked a bit if we want to buy watches from ppl carrying a card with watches and bags etc on it. Malcolm gets asked if he wants a 'lady massage'. There are signs at the hostel to not accept any massage from the street as they are trying to rob you. We stop for afternoon dinner at a restaurant close to the hostel. The food is ok, a little disappointing! We relax at the hostel. Malcolm goes out to get money and find a supermarket. And later goes out again and comes back with a drink with strange sago in it. We have fun eating it. We pack and get ready for bed and early leaving in the morning.
