The alarms both work today which is good. 20mins is slicing it thin but enough time to get ready and leave. Our friends collect us and off to the airport. Hardly any traffic which shortens the trip by 2/3 to the trip in!
We check in and then say goodbye! It's been such a great time seeing friends! The flight is a little delayed due to fog and we have an airport rep waiting to direct us one to the next flight when we land. It's three flights to our São Paulo stop over today and the next stop we stay in the plane while awaiting cleaning crews and new passengers to board. At the São Paulo airport we catch the airport bus to an international terminal where the sleep hotel is. We enter what looks like a service entrance but it takes us where we are going. They have trouble finding our reservation but eventually we get to a to room with bunks.
We spend the afternoon researching and booking a bike tour for rio. I'm exhausted. We walk around the airport and I settle on a baked potato for dinner. The showers are lovely. You use your key card to get in then there is a shower toilet and basin and they are cleaned once you finish. They provide soap shampoo conditioner and hair dryer! So much nicer than our last two bathrooms.
Bed is nice. During the night a man enters our room twice looking for his room. A service person let him in. A little funny. Then when Malcolm went out to the loo he couldn't get back in. I think service personnel card reset the key lock. It's happened before.
