WE said our last goodbyes to australia and got our flight to New Zealand. It all didnt start so well as the airline lost heikis bag for 4 days! poor thing it was raining and cold and he only had a a pair of trousers and a jacket tolast him the whole time! Any way we got a see alot of the city including the harbour bridge and the sky tower. we also took a trip over to Devonport and gpt some great views of the city (even though it was very cloudy) We definatly had our first taste of winter.
After a few days inAuckland we flew down to Palmerston north on what looked like a toy plane to see john and lynn it was very emotional but great to see them. Our first day there John took us and patrick to gravity canyon where we went on the flying fox which is a hige zip wire going through the canyon, i was petrified but it was good fun, you could also bungy off the bridge but we didnt fancy that! poor patrick wanted to do everything but he was still too small. that night we went to sadie and neils for tea so nice to have home cooked food!!!
At the weekend we took a trip down to Wellington it was a very wet weekend but a lovley city and so quiet to say its the capital! We had a few beers out ans went for a curry. The next day it wa sstill raining so we went to TE PAPA museum much better than your average it was really interesting. Th e rain fianlly stopped so we went upt he cable car walked back down throught the botanical gardens past parliment house and back to the harbour front. after all that walking we went for a some beers and and food. me and heiki went on to a few more bars it was a good night out.
back in Palmerston i dragged heiki to see mamma mia he hated it, i think it was the fact that james bond was singing he he!!
After a lazy day playing with lynns two kittens we set off in their camper van. First stop was Ohakune (the carrot capital of new zealand) Here our plan was to have some ski lessons but the wind was too strong so they cancelled them, but we atill got to go up the mountain and have a play in the snow, it was so strange we havent seen snow like that for years!! the novelty soon wore off when we were freezing! but it was good fun.
After Ohakune we decided to head up to Waitomo Caves the drive was fantastic some of the best scenery it was like something from a film we were on the main highway and only saw one car every ten minutes and millioms of sheep! Once there We took a tour through Auruni cave which was amazing like nothing weve ever seen before huge salactites growing down from the ceiling it was like santas grotto! of course our guide had to show us the creepy crawlys that lived there
Then we went to the glow worm cave i wasnt expecting the glow worms to shine so brightly it was like a stare sky really pretty. we were lucky we could get down there had been so much rain.
So Now we are in Rotorua Its a bit smelly! as its a geothermal sight so the sulphur coming from under the ground kind of smells a bit eggy!!
