Sooooo Here it is. The most long overdue travel blog EVER!! It seems things have been all go since last time I updated. As you know me and sarah headed from Dub-Vegas to Byron Bay, Via Sydney. A grueling 7 hour train trip and then a mad rush to catch the bus we were late for to have a 12 hour journey to Byron Bay, on THE coldest bus in the world! Ironic that we travel all the way to Australia from Northern England and then almost get hypothermia! Anyway, as soon as we got to Byron to the beautiful arts factory we headed straight to the beach!! Me and Sarah both hate going to the beach, and spend the whole time fidgeting and complaining about sand, but we simply cant keep away!! After this we went and purchased our very first ''BOX OF GOON''. $12 buys you 4 liters of the deadliest wine you have EVER had, seriously lethal!! We had a pretty crazy night on the porch of our rooms with the 10 Ozzie Schoolies, the Canadians Owen and Dayton and Sally and Jo from Wales. We all headed in to town for some dancing in the Beach Hotel!! Around this point I got lost and managed to convince someone I had met to walk me home. I lost my flipflops in the Sea and got a nasty cut on my shin off all the rocks on the beach BUT I made it back to the arts factory where I proceeded to fall asleep in reception waiting for people to return!! Not as bad as it sounds as it was a very safe place etc…etc… Got to bed at a disgusting time of day and slept for HOURS!! We spent our next day out on the porch eating pies being entertained by the Ozzie boys who had been drinking continuously from the night before!! Later we all sat out on the porch drinking tequila slammers and lots of other concoctions!! Me, Sarah, Owen & Dayton then headed in to town where we soon lost Dayton so we headed to the shop and got some treats and went to watch the stars on the beach, something we have become obsessed with doing!! We headed back to the Arts factory and sat in the hammocks until the early hours and then went to bed. Our last day in Byron we woke to find Dayton had returned from his crazy night sleeping in the bushes in town!! We went in to Byron with Owen in his ''lovely'' car we fondly named Paula. We went to the beach where I soon got very bored. Just as we were about to leave the shark alarm went off!! Which was very exciting, we heard it was a great white, very odd seeing everyone run out of the sea like on the TV!! After this I managed to entertain myself for a few more hours watching out for sharks. I got sunburn. Boo. We headed home and had tea in Buddha Bar and then an early night!! The next day we woke Owen early to drive us to the station so we could get our bus to Hervey Bay where our next adventure was to begin!! The bus was awful, sarah sat next to an old lady who immediately commented that if she were to catch sarahs cough she would die, which resulted in sarah wheezing like a loon for the next 3 hours!! We arrived in Koala Lodge and went to the bar where we met 2 irish girls Olive and Louise. We had a hilarious night with them at Koala, including one point when Olive thought a Possum was a kangaroo, despite the fact it was on the roof!! Saturday was the first day of our Fraser adventure!! We went to meet our group, we had a really cool group!! Me and Sarah, Dan from Belgium, Frans and Mattjia from Holland, Purnima and Nimesh from Bombay/Sydney, Sophie from Norway with her boyfriend Matt from London and 2 german girls. We all went shopping together and got loads of food and alcohol for the trip!! Me and sarah and Olive and Lousie went for dinner in the Irish bar and then headed to Koalas night club where we had a really good laugh. The next day we were up early (6.00am!!) to meet our gropu and have a briefing. We packed up the van, all 11 of us jumped in and we were off! We got the ferry over to fraser where we saw some dolphins in the sea. As soon as we arrived we headed up to Eli Creek, wehad a 30 minute drive through the forest, which believe me in a 4x4 that full felt like 30 hours!! Bumpy ride for sure!! We affived at Eli creek about 2 hours later, only getting stuck once, which was something of an achievement!! We went up the creek which was beautiful and then drove another hour of so up the beach to Indian heads, where we saw lots of sting rays and fish and some beautiful views of the 75mile beach. Gorgeous!! We headed down the beach to a campsite, where we met 2 of the other 4 Koala vans and setup a massive communal camp, all 32 of us!! We drank, had some REALLY good food concidering, and had a fab night. Talking in to the early hours. I went to the beach with Frans where we saw 9 shooting stars!! Just shows how clear the sky was!! Had a restless night in a tent with three people in immense heat, and woke at 5 in the morning to find everyone up and rearing to go. We had a really big brekkie and then headed up to Indian heads again in hope of seeing the sharks. For some reason wedidnt really deem the tide times as overly important and soon we were in a bit of trouble with not much beach and a high chance of getting stuck!! We decided to turn back and after driving through lots of salt water and a few scary moments we were back at camp, where we all decided to wait the tide out and then head up in convoy to a big lake. We did and after a few hours of getting stuck in the sand made it to the lake where we swam with turtles!! Which was cool. We then. We then headed to the Maheno wreck on the beach, which was amazing to see, such an immense thing. We went up to another lake and had dinner and a swim, which was all good fun. We lots track of time a bit and were very late getting to camp with the other Koalas. We cooked up a big BBQ and were just settling down when the dingoes came!! It was very dark and we heard something and looked up to see 2 or three dingoes a few meters away. Very nerve wracking!! At one point I was heading the 20m over to the other camp and saw one only a few meters away just staring at me, fair to say I was a little scared as I am sure many people will tell you!! All of our group went to bed and so me saz and frans went to join the irish for a sing song and then had our own van party. Me and sarah slept in the van!! We woke early to find the dingoes had been in the night and eaten all the irish's food and even drank their milk! We headed up to Lake Mackenzie for the day, which was one of the most beautiful places I have seen in my life!! Unfortunately our adventure was over, we headed back to Koala where we went for a big meal at the irish bar and then drinks in Koala. Yesterday me and sarah headed the 3 hours down to Noosa, Louise and Olive came too and Frans and Mattjia! We all had a good night out last night and today we are going to head to the beach for some tanning and swimming!! Tonight we are all heading to see a band in the irish bar and tomorrow me and sarah are heading to Brisbane. And then going to Byron to meet Dayton and Owen and Louise and Olive on Sunday!!! Sorry this is not as detailed as usual but I had a lot to fit in!! Still having an amazing time!! Cant believe its so close to Christmas!!Take care, love you all!! Amy x
