Well this is the mark of the next part of the Australian adventure!! We took a relocation motorhome up through the outback which was beautiful!! Also when I wore my trucker hat I got waves from the fellow truckers! The motorhome was huge but there were much bigger things on the road than me...Land Trains!! They were trucks with about eight or so trailers on them and they were a b**** to overtake!!
We got to Queensland in good time and had a lot of good fun in the motorhome, I think I'm going to live in one actually, they are very good if your on the move alot! The first place we stopped was called Cape Tribulation, so called because thatls where Captain Cook's troubles started...but I loved it! It was mainly rainforest and sea with crocs in the rmangroves and sharks in the creeks. Don't worry though because I'm obviously still alive!! After the shortest ferry in history we got to a rainforest walkway and went among the giants, met a couple of lizards and water dragons but sadly missed the camoweera bird but it's mating season so it's best to not get attacked really.
From Cape Trib we went down the coast to Cairns but didn't stay all that long, though we visited Lake Placid and watched an epic battle of Fish VS Crab (and suprisingly the fish won! Scardey Crab) and the at lunch we went to a picnic spot and realised that acutally it was a dogging place!! ha! I went in the toilet and there were glory holes galore and condoms everywhere they were unopened though and a part of me was happy they were practicing safe sex to be honest! Getting out of there before sundown we reached Townsville and Airlie beach where we booked ourselves upon the Adveturer and boy it did not disappoint!!
The time on the boat was amazing!! It was great to get a hand at sailing and learning actually which part of the boat was port and starboard...helping with the rigging and getting myself acquainted with the sea (all goes towards my litle Ren boat!!) That aside the group and crew we sailed with were absoloutely amazing and made the trip that much sweeter!! The only thing I would say is don't take the piss out of the crew, they'll throw you overboard and sail away! Fun times! (lesson learnt Reynolds)
The Great Barrier Reef says it all! There were so many beautiful things to see!! Turtles in the morning for their first breath of the day, reef sharks cruising the sea bed, Maori fish meandering along the crreks in the reefs, Nemo's protecting their homes and dolphin's following the boat...it was magical and far too much to take in for only three days on a boat.
Back in the Van (We had acquired a Jucy van by this time...not as big as the motorhome but we had the penthouse!!!) we pretty much just drove down to my favourite place from my last Aussie Adventure....NOOSA!!!!! await my next blog for details x
