After a 12-hour flight, we have landed in the UK J We are excited to be back and see our family and friends but I'm not sure how long that will last, once our travels seem like a distant memory…
So it's been 180 days, 10 countries, 12 flights, 58 destinations and countless memories!!
We have had some time to reflect back on our trip and below are some particular highlights and low(er) moments:
Highlights:
- - Taking in the views of the Grand Canyon and pimping it up in Vegas
- - Trekking on Fox glacier in New Zealand
- - "Campervanning" up the East Coast of Australia (when not raining)
- - Waterskiing and tubing on Lake Tinaroo in Oz
- - Discovering the peaceful bliss of the Gili islands
- - Learning to scuba dive
- - Going off the usual tourist trail in Malaysia
- - Taking in the hippy vibes in Pai, Northern Thailand
- - Cruising down the Mekong River to arrive in Laos
- - Kayaking around Halong Bay in Vietnam
- - Being treated like millionaires in 5* luxury at the Lebua @ State Tower in Bangkok
Low(er) moments:
- - Dave losing his wallet in NZ
- - "Campervanning" during 10 days of constant rain, up the East Coast of Australia
- - Discovering how commercialised Bali and the Thai islands have become - we could have been anywhere
- - Food poisoning in Bali and Cambodia (Dave = 2, Amie = 1!)
We feel lucky that nothing has fundamentally gone wrong on the trip - no thefts or booking or travel issues (probably due to our amazing excel planning spreadsheet and excellent project management skills!)
Thanks to everyone who has followed the blog and kept in touch along the way - it's been great to hear from you all and know that we weren't being forgotten! We are looking forward to printing this blog to keep as a memento for years to come J
