just back from 3 days in the Taman Negara jungle!!!!! it was really really cool. although we are all copvered in wierd bites and they are not mozzie bites!!! not itchy but gross looking! ach well they will go away...think they might have been some sort of bug! didnt feel it anyway! we left at 8am to get the bus to take us to jaranut thw town near where we get boat to jungle! we had been out the night before for lynsey birthday. It ois so expensive to drink here....well same as at home but in malaysian prices its really exlensive! we went out for dinner first to a plce that said fopr every 100g you dont eat you have to pay 20RM!!! was crazy! i was so full i felt sick! david and i ate everything lynsey and janine didnt! we then went out to the beach club which was cool. was a mix of western , chinese and indian. there were alot of old white guys though who were with these beautiful thai and choinese girls. it was sickly to look at! there was a band on and music was good and then a dj with great music. we then ran out of money and left. cost us 35rm to get in and then 18 rm for one drink!!! thats alot of money considering our accomodation cost us 20rm a night! anyway back to the jungle...we got bus at 8am from china town. we were all exhausted after onyl a few hours sleep...had a sneaky mcdonalds for breakkie! slept on bus till we got to jaunarat. were we got lunch and waiting to get mini bus to ferry crossing. We went the trip full board (it cost us equivilant of 60 pounds for the whole thing there and back) lunch ws good...infact food on the whole trip was good! there was always tons and i ahve eaten alot! diet starts today ha ha!! the ferry crossing lasted 3 hours!!!!!!!! was on a tiny wooden long boat, sat two by two on the floor of boat supported by cuchions! Was quite a romantic journey at start till you bum wne t numb and you were only 20 mins inot journey! i selt for a while. the heat was burning but the wind for boat cooled you down. we saw monkeys in the trees! got to taman negar village and set up on hostel! it ws o hot so glad we got air conditioning!!!!!!! dinner was good that night and then we took a night walk through the junlge. didnt see any animals but we saw a tarantila (not how you spell it in know) it was huge and scary!! we saw lots of other beasties too! that night there was an amazing lightening strom but no rain or thunder was really impressive!!! magical almost! next day we did a rope bridge canopy walk over the rainforest at 50m!! it has to be one of the scariest things i have done!! was so wobbly and high!!! though the thing was going to snap!! lots of wasps up there too gigantic ones so not good! we then did a huge hike up a hill! was very steep and the roots of trees made natural steps!! legs are killing me! in the afternoon we visited the batak tribe which are orangi asali (original people of malysia) they are stoill nomadic! it was really cool one of the guys created fire in two mins!! and then gave a blow pipe demonstration and we all had a shot hitting the target too!! the poeple looked more african than they did asian. we learnt about the people and their beliefs and they way they live! was really interesting! we then did rapid shooting and swam in the river!! in ourt clothes! it was so warm and in the rapids we got soaked!! was great fun!! didnt do anything at night as it ws raining and we were all knackered just an early night and we all got attacked by some wierd bug! covered in bites but not itchy just red! nice!!!!! back up the river and back to Kl today and we are geading to Thailand tonight! getting over ngiht bus to border then across border and to ko phang-nang!! party time at full moon party!!!!! it also the thai water festival so you get very wet lots!! cant wait!
