Our arrival in Kuala Lumpur was a bit of a shock to the system after the laid back attitude and cool temperatures of the Cameron Highlands! We managed to get our directions to our hostel completely wrong, and spent a fair while wandering in circles around it in the heat of the day, with our backpacks weighing us down. We eventually made it, and in no mood for being ripped off we managed to stop the guy on the desk charging us extra!
We were staying in the Golden Triangle -hotel, shopping and business centre of KL. Andrew was in gadget heaven as the first shopping mall we went into (mainly to take advantage of the air con!), was dedicated to technology! We visited a few other malls but tired fairly quickly of shopping, particularly with no money to spend on actually buying anything! Andrew wasn't quite so strong and ended up with a new laptop, camera and ipod from our week in KL and Singapore!
We got up early one morning to queue for tickets to go on the skybridge between the Petronus Twin Towers, which is high enough to give a good view of the city. We were lucky to time it just right, as they cut the queue off for the day just behind us. The towers were much more impressive when they were lit up at night though! We felt slightly more Christmassy in KL as they had some fairly impressive lights up, although it still seemed strange to be nearing Christmas with the weather so hot and humid!
